Confirmo seeks to expand into the Middle East as it hires Mariam Kiwan

Confirmo, an Irish regulated stablecoin payments company authorized under MiCA, as a crypto asset service provider has hired Miriam Kiwan, as CEO of  Middle East Africa and APAC.

With Miriam Kiwan leading Confirmo as CEO for MEA and APAC, the company appears to be looking beyond Europe and the United States and more towards the corridors where stablecoins are moving from crypto convenience to payments infrastructure.

Kiwan also comes with a very relevant Circle chapter behind her, having led the stablecoin issuer’s Middle East and Africa expansion for more than two and a half years, including regional regulatory milestones, USDC and EURC recognition under Dubai’s DFSA crypto token framework, and partnerships aimed at pushing USDC into real cross-border payment use cases.

The UAE has already introduced a Payment Token Services Regulation. Stablecoins are no longer sitting on the sidelines of the regional crypto story. They are becoming part of the conversation around cross-border payments, treasury, trade finance and settlement.

The regional backdrop is doing a lot of the work here. The UAE is not just another crypto market; it is one of the region’s busiest financial gateways. Reports have shown the country ranking third in MENA digital-asset transaction volume, while stablecoin activity has already become a major share of local crypto flows.

Stablecoins are increasingly being discussed not only for retail crypto trading, but for B2B settlement, trade finance, e-commerce payouts and liquidity management. In the GCC, where family offices, fintechs, exchanges, banks and government-backed digital economy strategies often move in parallel, the winners may not be the loudest token brands. They may be the infrastructure providers that make stablecoin settlement boring enough for finance teams to actually use.

This comes as USDT has gained recognition in Abu Dhabi’s ADGM framework. Additionally USDU a UAE regulated stablecoin has also come into play while crypto.com has become the first VASP in UAE, through its UAE entity Foris DAX Middle East FZE, to receive a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license from the Central Bank of UAE allowing it to offer crypto payments in the UAE

Confirmo accepts stablecoins, settles payments, converting to fiat and giving merchants and enterprises the reporting layer they need.

Back in May 2026 Confirmo also appointed three senior leaders – Derek Corcoran, Brendan Nuessle and Ritesh Patel – to drive its European and US expansion.
