Dubai Customs and Binance to expand crypto payment capabilities

Dubai Customs during Binance Week, signed an MOU ( Memorandum of Understanding) with Binance in a step to expand digital payment capabilities of Dubai customs by integrating crypto into commercial and logistical transactions. This is in line with Dubai Custom’s ongoing digital transformation using blockchain and other technologies.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, and Stephanie Emile, General Manager of Binance FZE in Dubai, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.
Binance, one of the world’s largest platforms for digital assets and future payment solutions, provides advanced services including Binance Pay, enabling secure, fast, and borderless digital payments that enhance trade flow and accelerate investment cycles.
The MoU aims to develop the UAE’s domestic payment ecosystem by integrating digital assets into commercial transactions and enabling the logistics sector to benefit from digital payments. It supports a flexible and innovative financial infrastructure through blockchain technologies that enhance transparency and reduce transaction time and costs.
Additionally, the partnership will improve the efficiency of import–export operations, streamline customs procedures, and attract new investors, particularly SMEs, by offering modern payment options that help expand their businesses and access new global markets.
His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, noted, “Dubai continues to strengthen its position as a key player in the global digital economy. His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, expressed his satisfaction with the MoU, noting that Dubai Customs aims to build the most advanced and flexible customs and logistics systems worldwide. “This agreement reflects our strategy to accelerate comprehensive digital transformation and redefine customs procedures to be smarter and aligned with the global economy, which increasingly relies on advanced technologies and future payment solutions. Our collaboration with Binance opens a new chapter in developing digital payments by integrating crypto-assets into commercial and logistics operations, enhancing operational efficiency, and increasing Dubai’s attractiveness as a global economic hub.”

Crypto.com has already been working with UAE governmental and private sector for crypto payments
Crypto.com has been doing the same agreements with several Dubai governmental entities as well as private sector. Crypto.com in the UAE has been working to integrate its offering across the board. After signing up with Emarat Energy, Dubai Land Department, and Dubai Duty Free, Crypto.com signed a deal with Emirates Airlines to allow its customers to make crypto payments using the exchange’s services. Whether its trading or payments, the exchange is trying to spread its wings within the UAE. The exchange also signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to explore the use of Blockchain and digital currencies or crypto in the real estate sector.
Dubai Department of Finance (DOF) , the governmental entity responsible for budget and its execution has signed an MOU ( Memorandum of Understanding) with UAE regulated Crypto.com to allow crypto payments for governmental fees.
Foris DAX Middle East, trading as Crypto.com, also received In-Principle Approval (IPA) from the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) for a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license which will allow it to provide digital payment services for Dubai government fees in UAE Dirham or Dirham pegged stablecoins. Once the final license is granted, the company will be able to provide digital payment services for Dubai Government fees in UAE dirhams or dirham-pegged stablecoins, through the SVF framework.
