Alpaca brings governance capabilities to holders of tokenized equities

Alpaca, a global brokerage infrastructure platform, has partnered with Broadridge Financial Solutions to bring institutional-grade shareholder governance capabilities to holders of tokenized equities.

As per the announcement, the integration will enable eligible shareholders holding tokenized equities through supported brokerage relationships to access proxy voting, investor communications, regulatory disclosures and voting entitlement reconciliation through Broadridge’s ProxyVote.com platform.

Through proxy voting, eligible investors in supported tokenized equities will be able to participate in key corporate decisions, including board elections, executive compensation, mergers and other material matters.

Broadridge will also integrate secure messaging, investor communications and proxy functionality directly into digital asset infrastructure. This will allow investors to receive shareholder materials, notifications and voting access within the platforms where tokenized assets are held and managed.

“For tokenized securities to reach their full potential, voting and governance must scale with them,” said Doug DeSchutter, President, Investor Communications Solutions at Broadridge. “With Alpaca, we are extending our market-leading proxy voting and investor communications capabilities to tokenized equities through the underlying asset, helping ensure investors can access trusted governance tools and issuer information regardless of whether assets are structured or owned through traditional or tokenized models.”

Alpaca plays a central role in connecting tokenized markets with traditional capital market protections. The company provides custody for the underlying securities backing tokenized U.S. equities and ETFs, custodying approximately 94% of tokenized U.S. equities and ETFs for partners including Anchored Finance, Binance, Bitget, Dinari, Ondo Global Markets and xStocks by Kraken.

“Enabling shareholder governance and proxy voting is a key step in powering adoption of tokenized equities,” said Yoshi Yokokawa, CEO of Alpaca. “Through our partnership with Broadridge, we’re combining Alpaca’s brokerage infrastructure supporting tokenized equities with trusted governance capabilities, helping our partners build tokenized investment products with the accuracy, auditability, regulatory compliance and investor transparency expected in traditional markets.”
