Crypto.com to introduce tokenized securities trading with $400 million investment from Citadel

Crypto.com has received a strategic $400 million investment from Citadel Securities, a global market maker that offers institutional and retail investors with world-class liquidity, competitive pricing and seamless front-to-back execution in a broad array of financial products, valuing the Crypto.com at $20 billion.
According to the press release, this marks the first institutional funding round in the Company’s decade-long history. The investment will be used to accelerate Crypto.com’s expansion into all asset classes including tokenized securities and derivatives to create more efficient 24/7 financial ecosystems.
“We are thrilled to work with Citadel Securities to continue driving the crypto industry into a new era of institutionalization,” said Kris Marszalek, Co-Founder and CEO of Crypto.com. “The size of the opportunity in front of us is staggering, as crypto increasingly becomes the rails for finance. Having built the right regulatory and tech infrastructure over the last decade, Crypto.com is now perfectly positioned to capture this new wave of growth across all asset classes.”
The Presient of Citadel Securities also noted that the convergence of traditional financial markets and digital asset infrastructure is an exciting evolution with the potential to further improve market efficiency. He added, “Crypto.com has built a foundation to support the continued institutionalization of the digital asset market, and we are pleased to collaborate with the Crypto.com team as we help create the capital markets of the future.”
In February this year, Crypto.com received conditional approval for a national trust bank charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Once fully approved, Crypto.com National Trust Bank will be able to operate as a federally regulated national trust bank.
Recently Crypto.com in UAE became the first VASP in UAE, through its UAE entity Foris DAX Middle East FZE, to receive a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license from the Central Bank of UAE allowing it to offer crypto payments in the UAE. In October 2025, Foris DAX Middle East, received In-Principle Approval (IPA) from the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) for a Stored Value Facilities (SVF) license which will allow it to provide digital payment services for Dubai government fees in UAE Dirham or Dirham pegged stablecoins.
