Dubai Taxi discussing crypto payments with Road Transport Authority

Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) CEO recently noted that the company would be exploring cryptocurrency as a new payment gateway for its customers and could roll it out very soon.

The CEO of Dubai Taxi Company, Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi speaking with Khaleej Times explained that the reason to offer crypto payments would be to offer customers different choices when it comes to payment gateways.

“The idea is to give the customer different choices when it comes to the payment gateways. Of course, we’re going to explore a cryptocurrency payment solution with our regulator, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). We can see it very soon as one of the payment gateways that we provide for our customers,” stated Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, CEO of Dubai Taxi Company

Dubai Taxi’s CEO, Alfalasi, said autonomous taxis will be rolled out next month. “We are going to have, for the first time, autonomous taxis and vehicles through our fleets. The first trip will start next month. Our target for this year is to roll out 50 to 100 autonomous vehicles. Later, we’ll see how we can expand more,” he said.

It would seem that Dubai Taxi would be using AED stablecoins of which AE Coin has been approved by the Central Bank of UAE, with in principle approval also given to RAK Banks AED stablecoin.
