UAE AI Minister: Crypto is a global infrastructure and Blockchain is revolutionary

The UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Omar Sultan Al Olama, in his speech at Binance Blockchain Week Dubai 2025, made some important comments on not only crypto, and blockchain but also stablecoins.
Speaking to founders, builders, policymakers, and industry leaders he stated clearly that “Crypto is becoming global infrastructure and the UAE will continue to think ahead, innovate, and shape the next chapter of the digital future.”
He noted that the UAE is propelling the nation’s digital economy strategy particularly in Blockchain, AI and virtual assets. According to him the UAE’s ability to innovate, reinvent and move with agility is one of the reasons it has been able to integrate digital assets into the national strategy. On Blockchain he stated, “We believe this is a revolutionary technology, and we want to support it.”
Al Olama, UAE AI Minister, believes that it is crypto which has solved the inefficiencies of cross border payments making is more cost effective faster and more inclusive. Today, stablecoins and blockchain networks enable, instant global settlements, a fraction of legacy transfer costs, 24/7 movement across borders and no dependency on banking hours.
“This is a transformation for billions of people,” he said, noting that the past 12 months have been “record-breaking” for the entire digital asset industry.
One of the most interesting figures is in stablecoins. Minister Al Olama stated that stablecoin market cap has grown nearly 50% while stablecoin wallet holders also surged 50% to 130 million with daily stablecoin settlement volumes surpassed Visa in 2024.
