Oman warns against illegal sale of crypto mining equipment

Oman last week warned companies and individuals asking them not to sell or supple crypto mining equipment to unlicensed operators, as Oman authorities enforce regulations.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said it had detected cases in which cryptocurrency mining equipment was being sold or supplied to individuals and entities that had not obtained the licences, permits and approvals required to carry out mining activities.

Suppliers must verify before completing any sale that the purchaser has secured all required licences, permits and approvals from the competent authorities, the ministry said.

The ministry warned companies and individuals involved in the sale or supply of such equipment that failure to comply could result in legal and administrative action under the laws and regulations in force in the Sultanate.

In June 2026, The Oman Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), announced the launch of a Oman National crypto mining pool utilizing the technology platform of Enegix Global, a vertically integrated digital energy and infrastructure company. Prior to this Enegix launched a similar operation in Kazakhstan for its national bitcoin mining pool.

Oman has been one of the most active jurisdictions for large-scale crypto mining investment since 2022, as part of the country’s economic diversification agenda. Total investments in mining and data center infrastructure in the Salalah Free Zone have exceeded $700 million, including two major facilities launched in 2022 and 2023. Moreover in 2025, Alps Blockchain, an Italian company that builds and operates mining farms to contribute to the development of new technologies and support the evolution of the energy sector, combining innovation and efficiency, expanded its mining operation from 10 Megawatt to 150 Megawatt in Oman.
