CoinMENA first live crypto exchange in Jordan sandbox

CoinMENA announced in an X post that it has become the first digital asset platform to go live within the Central Bank of Jordan’s Regulatory sandbox. This allows users in Jordan to securely access, deposit, buy, sell and store digital assets locally under regulatory oversight under the sandbox environment.
The post noted that CoinMENA brings established regulatory expertise across multiple jurisdictions, reinforcing our commitment to supporting the growth and maturity of Jordan’s digital financial sector. They added, “We thank the Central Bank of Jordan for fostering innovation within a clear and structured regulatory framework. We are honored to contribute to this important chapter and to support Jordan’s continued progress in digital financial transformation across the region.”
CoinMENA was one of the first regional crypto brokerage trading platforms to receive licenses in the GCC and now MENA region. It was licensed for the first time in Bahrain and then the UAE.
In 2025, with two licenses secured and 1.5 million users across 45 countries, CoinMENA was acquired by Paribu for $240 million, making it one of the region’s largest fintech acquisitions.
In August in an interview with Talal Tabaa, he noted that the relationship with Paribu is not just about expanding crypto trading services in the UAE, Bahrain, and soon Jordan.
According to Talal, it will go well beyond crypto. Paribu will also bring in its crypto custody business, with additional products and services on the way. Recently Paribu announced that it has taken its network coverage past 80, adding seven blockchain networks over recent months. The institutional digital asset custody service, launched in late 2024 by Türkiye-based fintech company Paribu, now supports more than 1,000 tokens across use cases ranging from decentralized finance to stablecoins and consumer-facing applications.
