Qatar National Bank modernizes payments with Blockchain payment solution

Qatar National Bank (QNB) has announced on its website that it is offering blockchain enabled payments that will allow its corporate customers to move money faster, more securely and with greater transparency.

The Bank notes that this reduces traditional cut off times and is designed for global treasury operations. The Blockchain enabled payments solution being offered by the bank is offering real time settlement, improving liquidity managements and operational efficiency across time critical payment flows.

Qatar National Bank explains that multinational, regional corporates, centralized treasury teams, and clients with high value or time critical payments can benefit from near real time settlement, enhanced transparency that gives them full visibility of payment status, reducing reconciliation and investigation efforts, and all with enterprise grade security in line with global banking and regulatory standards.

According to QNB the solution is built on enterprise grade distributed ledger technology operated by a leading global financial institution, to help modernize payments.

In 2025, Qatar National Bank (QNB) integrated JPMorgan’s Kinexys blockchain platform to handle US dollar corporate payments. The Kinexys Digital Payments platform provides QNB’s corporate clients with real-time, 24/7 settlement of USD transactions.

QNB also launched the first native blockchain digital bond

Qatar National Bank has been using blockchain on fronts other than payments. In November 2025, it was the first to launch a native blockchain enabled digital bond issuance, raising $500 million in what it described as the largest transaction of its kind by a financial institution in the Middle East and Africa.

The digital bond issuance was powered by HSBC Orion Blockchain solution. HSBC Orion is the number 1 platform globally for digital bond volume in 2025 to date and the only to have successfully supported digital bonds for issuers in the region, in addition to the world’s largest digital bond issued in Hong Kong earlier this month.
