Mubadala in UAE increases investment in Bitcoin ETF

UAE Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund has increased its position in Bitcoin through BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETC, ticker symbol IBIT. As of March 2026, it now has 14,721,917 shares up from 12,702,323 shares, worth $565 million at current prices.

Mubadala raised its stake in IBIT by 16%. The iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) manages approximately (\$66.7) billion in assets, making it one of the largest and fastest-growing ETFs in market history.

In 2024, Mubadala revealed in an SEC Filing revealed it had invested $436,895,026 in BlackRock’s Ishares Bitcoin Trust ETF. The disclosure was made through a 13F filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

In 2025 ADIC, held 2.4 million shares in early September, increased its investment to almost 8 million shares at the end of September. Today ADIC has kept its IBIT position flat.

Both entities now hold over $1 billion in Bitcoin ETFs.

Other than UAE sovereign funds, Intergenerational Sovereign Wealth Fund (FSIL) in Luxembourg became the first Eurozone country to gain direct exposure to the digital asset class by allocating 1% of its entire portfolio to Bitcoin and related crypto assets


BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said sovereign wealth funds have been steadily accumulating bitcoin, including buying as the price tumbled below $90,000. “We’re seeing more and more legitimate, long-holding investors investing in it,” Fink said he New York Times DealBook Summit in New York in 2025. “I can tell you there are a number of sovereign funds, they are adding incrementally at $120,000, $100,000; I know they bought more in the $80s.”
